Camden County Department of Parks
The Camden County Parks Department celebrated the grand opening of a new welcome center at Wiggins Park Marina on the Camden Waterfront in the shadow of the Battleship New Jersey. The 822-square-foot newly constructed building provides added amenities for boaters who dock at the marina. This new investment into a well-used part of the Camden County Parks System will be an asset for the community, the City of Camden and the county, acting as a "welcome center" to visitors to the City's Waterfront.
The new building offers boaters in the adjacent 50-slip marina multiple services that enhance their stay at the marina including restrooms with showers, laundry facilities and a kitchenette. It features sustainable construction elements, vandal-proof equipment and is fully ADA compliant. An attached patio with new tables, chairs and barbeque grills will offer boaters a place to enjoy a meal with the river and city skyline as a backdrop.
The prefabricated structure was built by Public Restroom Company, transported to the site in three pieces and installed on a poured-in-place concrete footing. Prefabrication allowed the client to realize significant cost savings as well as reducing disruptions to park users compared to traditional on-site building construction.
Precise site design and grading preserved existing site improvements such as rear concrete patio, ramp to marina, and minimized interruption to existing sidewalk and curbing while maintaining marina security and acces.
