Bayonne Landfill Capping

Bayonne Golf Club involved the remediation and closure of the former Bayonne Sanitary Landfill and the former PSE&G Site in the Constable Hook area of the City of Bayonne, New Jersey. These contaminated brownfield sites were redeveloped into a Scottish-style 18-hole course with a public waterfront walkway, 2- acre marina and state-of-the-art club house.

CME Associates has been the engineer for the design, construction oversight, and operation of the landfill closure and remedial systems of this site. Closure activities have included the installation of a perimeter vertical hydraulic barrier (slurry wall/sheet pile wall) keyed into an underlying continuous confining layer; a leachate collection and pre- treatment system; an active gas collection and treatment system; and a low permeability 2-foot PDM cap with a clean fill cover. This project is a landmark Beneficial Use Project with the placement of over 5 million cubic yards of Beneficial Reuse Materials, including various approved types of recyclable materials and processed dredged material (PDM). In addition, ICON Engineering has provided geotechnical investigation and testing, slope monitoring, foundation design and construction inspection services for the golf course buildings, and gas ventilation and/or monitoring systems for the buildings. CME Associates currently provides services related to the maintaining and monitoring of the landfill control systems.
